no adapter needed

The transition to home was LOOOOOOOOONNNNGGGGG. Exactly forty-eight hours from Nikki's house in Fez to my house in Indianapolis. First, getting up at 3:45am to catch the 4:50 am train from Fez to Casablanca, then a four hour train ride, then another half hour train ride to the airport, then the airport wait to catch my flight. Then a flight to Madrid, a wait in Madrid, (where, by the way, it was sooo nice to be able to communicate so easily and understand EVERYTHING around me!) a flight to London. A hotel in London for six hours, then a commute from Heathrow to Gatwick, then a wait in Gatwick, then a VERY VERY VERY long eight-hour flight to Detroit, then a wait in Detroit, and a very short flight to Indy.

My first impression on coming home is that I no longer need any adapters to plug in. I fried my adapter in Morocco and had to borrow one from Nikki the last few days. But in Detroit I could still use my phone, because I had my charger with me AND IT WOULD FIT THE PLUGS!!! This is how I feel about coming home. I suddenly know where everything goes, where everything is, how everything works, automatically, without even thinking about it. I didn't have to stare at the shower for a few minutes this morning to figure out how it works. I can do things on autopilot! I don't have to think about what I'm saying or what language I'm using!

The long trip home was excellent in that I had run out of books and had hours and hours just to process these last few months. I'll write soon about some of the things I've learned, but my main concern in these next few days is plugging in too easily. Life feels disturbingly easy now. I don't want to lose the lessons I've learned or forget again how to live on the go, how to live with less, how to be flexible, living one day at a time, to be ADAPTABLE.

If you're reading this and are in Indianapolis, I'd love to get together and chat! Let me know when a good time is to get together and talk. I'm anxious to plug in here and reconnect with everyone!
