Bright orange t-shirts

Here are some of my pet peeves when working with big groups of Americans:
1. Bright orange t-shirts. Oh, yes, this group came wearing bright orange t-shirts with a Bible verse printed on the back. Why?
2. Pictures with the guard with the machine gun. Oh, yes, someone did that as well this morning.
3. People who refuse to speak any Spanish at all. Honestly, what is so hard about learning at least basic food words before you come? It's not like Spanish is some isolated language no one has ever heard before!! Demanding that people speak English when we're in THEIR country?
4. Throwing candy out the window of the car, which makes the kids along the road grovel for it in the dirt. Give with dignity.
5. People constantly asking if the water is safe. People, if you're paying more than 18 lempira (1dollar) for what you're ordering, the water WILL BE SAFE. Quit asking.

OK, obviously I need a bigger dose of love if I'm to deal with big groups of Americans for longer!!

A big group of Episcopalians is sharing the hotel, and have the nice rooms upstairs in the main building, while we're out in the annex, which means that we all share the verandah to do internet. I know they're Episcopalians by their (white) t-shirts, but also by the fact that they consume wine every evening. :)

Today a funny thing that happened was that as I was handing out Christmas boxes to my sweet little group of 10-12 year old girls (cutest ever, so much fun) one girl's cell phone went off and she got up and went off to answer. That was a first, I think!! Cell phones have invaded the 10-12 year old market here in Pimienta Honduras!!
