If you give a student a cookie
she's going to ask you to go get a drink.
If you let her get a drink, it's going to make her have to pee...
so she'll ask to go to the bathroom.
If you let her go to the bathroom...
she'll go and realize...
she needs to visit the nurse.
So she'll come back and ask for a pass to the nurse.
If you give her the pass to the nurse...
on her way she'll pass her locker
and remember
she forgot to turn in her English project which was due last period.
So she'll ask you if she can do that.
If you let her go turn in her English project...
She'll pass by the class where her BFF is out in the hall having a meltdown
which reminds her
that she needs to see her guidance counselor.
If you let her go see her counselor
she'll get thirsty from talking so long
and stop by the vending machines on her way back to class for a drink.
And when she has a drink
she'll come back to class
and ask you for another cookie.
This is a fictitious account that just came to me today, a spoof of the beloved children's book, but I do have one student who seriously does ask for a pass out for one reason or another about this often!! I've written one too many passes this week. :)
