You know you're adapting to life in China when...
...you see someone's new possession and immediately automatically ask "How much did that cost?"
...you don't automatically say sorry when you jostle someone in a crowd (or at any time, actually).
...you get on the bus, and all the seats are full with about four people standing and you think, wow, it's so empty in here!
...you have eaten potato salad or other strictly American foods with chopsticks because those are the only utensils in your house (and you really didn't think anything of it).
...you haven't actually gone barefoot in more than 10 days, but instead always wear your trusty slippers and shower shoes.
...you lie on a rock-hard firm bed and think....ah, comfortable bed!!
...you marvel when you see a clear blue sky and start taking pictures of it to preserve the memory.
...you start running into lots of people you know while out doing errands or are in your daily life.
...you sit down at a dirty table in a restaurant anyway, knowing the food will be good.
...you've eaten eggplant more than three times in the past week (and loved every minute of it).
...you find yourself thinking...Mmmm..tofu and rice sounds great right about now!
...you find a cup of straight hot water to be tasty and refreshing.
...you see another American and think "Foreigner!"
