Did I really not blog at all in August? My summer flew by in a whirl of times with friends, family, and supporters at home. The ordinary-ness of life surprised me at home, as I relaxed into the culture I know and the language I speak and read, forgetting to stop and notice the quaint and unique within my own culture and homeland.
On coming back to China, I find myself sinking back into the routine of this life too. I don't need or want to take as many pictures, as I've adapted to what life looks like here. Fewer things feel strange, more things feel normal, but a different normal than the normal I grew up with.
I need to have faith that this journey hasn't ceased, that the Guide still has new things to reveal. This space to write and reflect has changed as I've gone through the different phases the last few years--my year of travel, Kandice being sick and going to her eternal home, working at a Big Public School, and then my transition to China. I see a theme in each year, and wonder what this year's theme will be.
But in every theme, in every step, the Guide has revealed things and Himself to me in new ways. Sometimes amusing things, sometimes profound things, sometimes a new light on who He is. In this new year of life, this new year of exploration, I commit myself again to following the Guide and listening to Him, as He opens up new vistas in this beautiful place He has created.
