Internationality

My favorite part of my trip so far has been the diverity of people around me. I love different languages and cultures, and in big European cities there is a plethora of nations! In England we saw Saudi princesses in luxurious black Hijab shopping at Harrods, people in saris from India, so many europeans, some americans, that it was almost cultural overload just to peoplewatch! Here in Rome there are lots of American and European tourists, of course, but I also see and hear lots of Latin Americans on the bus and the subway. I described a bit last time about how diverse my Italian class is: Friday I had lunch with my slovakian friend, my Ukranian friend, and an American kid who likes to party! The conversation was half English half Italian, and between us I think we covered about ten languages. Today I went to an English speaking church in the heart of Rome and made a wonderful friend from Uganda, another friend from Nigeria, lots of people from Kenya, and met a little backpacking American boy. The church itself was the most diverse one I've ever worshipped at, a third Filipino, a third African, and the rest Americans, a few Italians, and some Chinese.
Not many actual Italian friends yet, hopefully that is coming soon.
So it is good to get out of "the bubble" and just interact with the world in a variety of languages!
