China life rules

We've had a TON of visitors come through this month for different reasons, and watching people come through especially first-timers, I realize how many life lessons I've learned by living in China.  Here's my list.

1.  Always carry a small packet of tissues with you.  They are your napkins, kleenex, toilet paper, all when it's not provided by the establishment (which is quite frequent).
2.  When two buses of the same number come almost simultaneously, always get on the second one.  (less crowded)
3.  Watch where you step outside, and never wear outside shoes inside the house.
4.  If you pass a good-looking not-smelly bathroom, stop and use it.
5.  Always have a stash of one-kuai money in an outside pocket to use for transportation and bottles of water.
6.  Order eggplant whenever possible.
7.  You're always safer in a crowd.  Stick with and act like the people around you as much as possible.
8.  Whenever possible, take a Chinese friend along.  You will inevitably save money and learn tons of interesting things along the way.
9.  Don't be afraid to spend some money on occasional comfort items (taxis, cheese, coffee) because the relaxation offered far exceeds the monetary costs.
10.  Lower your expectations and your experience will be much more pleasant!!

What are your life rules?
