If you really want to fix education, pass a law that has the following stipulations.
1. No class larger than 20 people. Ever. No exceptions.
2. Every administrator must have 10 years of classroom teaching experience, or be currently teaching 1 lower-level class in their subject matter.
3. The teacher has the final say in any situation, not the parent or student.
Can I rant about something else?
Why don't we just install some technology that simply blocks cellphone signals within classrooms? Today a student was texting back and forth with her MOM during a QUIZ, and the mom was angry at me when I called her and told her that I cannot permit that!! Really?!!??!! Another student of mine got busted for texting throughout class--and that was with his mom!!!! Can someone please spread the word to parents NOT TO TEXT YOUR STUDENT during the school day!!!!!! You could get them in trouble!!!!! Then the parents complain when the student does get in trouble!!!
