Oh, baby

So I held or played with eight different precious children ages 3 and under last week (my regular time with Maureen and Rilla on Thursday, Zion and Ezra Thursday and Sunday, then Katelynn and Josiah and later Emerson on Tuesday, and Daniel on Wednesday and Thursday). They are each so precious, and it was great to hang out with them and their parents (all of them dear friends of mine).

It occurred to me as I was holding Daniel (officially two weeks old the day I was holding him): in less than a month, this will be me. Almost totally dependent on those around me. Struggling to do basic things like get food. Unable to communicate coherently. Eyes crossed in confusion at the new world around me. Maybe in a few years I'll get as good as Emerson or Katelynn or Maureen, able to communicate answers to questions, explain things in answers to questions, and verbalize my basic needs, but I'm not there yet!!

I so enjoyed my time with each of these precious new lives. As I form my new life in China, I hope to live with the grace that they have shown, and just accept and learn from those around me!!
